The Robot Holocaust was deliberately created as a robotic killing machine to destroy whatever faced it. Only problem was that it was too good at its job.
The machine known as the Robot Holocaust first came on-line in 1968; it was created by the supervillain Doctor Nefarious as a weapon to help defend his lair so that he could carry out his schemes for World Domination. Programmed to destroy all potential threats, the first time it activated it decided that Nefarious himself was a threat, and promptly crushed him with its giant metal fists. Defeated by the superheroes in question, its remains were lost when the lair collapsed.
However, in 1976, its remains were discovered by Baron Ruthless, who studied it at length. Initially he focused on repairing it so that he could copy its systems and develop his own robotic combat unit, Roboskull. When his own lair was invaded, he wisely escaped and then remotely activated the Robot to cover his escape. Again, it was defeated and again its remains were lost.
Found again in 1987, the robot was this time re-built and reactivated by a bunch of inept college students who intended to turn it in as a research project for credit. In this instance, they were able to escape the machine before it reached full power and killed them. This did not stop it from then engaging in a cross-country rampage of destruction.
What did stop it was the unexpected appearance of Roboskull who was able to over-ride the machine’s AI and bring it under its control. The two then escaped, seemingly back to whatever location Roboskull had been hiding. Since then, the Robot Holocaust has sporadically reappeared from time to time, sometimes under the control of Roboskull and sometimes on its own. It is only in the last few years that it has become regularly active, working as a member of the Robot Bastards.
The largest member of the Robot Bastards, Robot Holocaust is also the most physically powerful. While its construction may be obsolete and rather bulky, it possesses incredible strength and power. On its own, it is able to stand toe-to-toe with all but the strongest of bricks, with strength and power to overcome even the toughest of opponents. It is also capable of withstanding incredible amounts of punishment before shutting down.
It is not clear if the Robot Holocaust has backups like Roboskull does. Certainly the machine appears to be in the same body it first used in the 60s, albeit with numerous upgrades.
Due to its age and primitive construction, Robot Holocaust has only a most minimal artificial intelligence. It communicates only in short phrases, and possesses a very linier and limited thought process. The least independent-minded of the Robot Bastards, it usually does as directed by one of the others; otherwise it will merely seek out the nearest target and attack that. Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on your point of view), Ampersand and Roboskull are able to steer and control it to a degree in order to fulfil their goals.
The Robot Holocaust is a hulking metallic mass of metal. Clearly robotic, its body is a flat, gunmetal grey colour with obviously exposed pistons, actuators and other mechanical systems. Its head has only the most passing approximation of a face, being a pair of blank eyeslots and a mouth. It is adorned with numerous spikes on its shoulders, back, fists and head.
